The Health and Social Care Board has announced 16 Better Days Pain Support Programmes, which are designed to improve the mental health of those who suffer from pain and encourage people to own their pain, while advocating caution and self-care with regard to using pain medication.

The programmes will be delivered by Healthy Living Centres (HLC) across Northern Ireland between September and November 2021. Pharmacy teams can refer patients to the programmes.

Around 450,000 in the north of Ireland live with long-term, persistent pain. The Better Days Pain Support Programmes are designed to improve the mental health of those who suffer from pain, enhance their social inclusion, facilitate routine gentle movement and encourage people to own their pain, while advocating caution and self-care with regard to using pain medication.
