McKeevers Chemist in Castlewellan has raised £374.50 for cancer charity, OGCancerNI in support of their colleague Leanne Molloy
The charity was set up in 2018 specifically to benefit patients and families affected by oesophago-gastric cancer so, when Leanne was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in January of last year at the age of 34, her pharmacy colleagues wanted to show their support for her.
The pharmacy staff raised the money by organising a raffle and were delighted to receive a certificate of appreciation from OGCancerNI.
Oesophageal cancer like many other cancers does not discriminate between age or sex and knowing and recognising the signs and symptoms are crucial to early diagnosis. If you or anyone you know suffer from any of the following symptoms for longer than three weeks, it’s vitally important to consult a GP:
- Persistent indigestion
- Difficulty swallowing or food sticking
- Heartburn acid reflux
- Hiccupping that won’t go away
- Unexplained weight loss.
