The Pharmaceutical Society NI is pleased to announce that the Health Minister, Mr Robin Swann MLA, has appointed Mrs Laura Hughes, MPharm, as the organisation’s new Registrar. Laura, who will take up her post on 31 August 2020, brings a wealth of experience having worked within the independent community pharmacy sector, GP practices and most lately in a large pharmacy multiple in Belfast.
In addition, over the past 4 years she has provided oversight and leadership to the Regulator, as a Registrant Member of the Council of the Pharmaceutical Society NI, including Chair of the Fitness to Practice oversight Committee.
Commenting on Laura’s appointment, President of the Council of the Pharmaceutical Society NI, Dr Jim Livingstone said:
“I and my colleagues on Council, and the Chief Executive, are delighted to welcome Laura in her new role as Registrar. She will bring great insight and knowledge to this key role at a most challenging time. Having worked with Laura I know she will bring her natural enthusiasm and attention to detail to this post, and indeed a declared passion for the profession of pharmacy. I look forward to her joining the Executive team and wish her well in her new role.”
