Go Green for Macmillan
Seventeen pharmacies recently took part in the UCA’s Go Green for Macmillan Week, with lots doing a Macmillan coffee morning on Friday 27 September. UCA-NI also recently helped PHA to distribute 5000 palliative care booklets – ‘Your life and your choices: plan ahead’ – which was produced with the help of Macmillan Cancer Support and distributed to pharmacies across Northern Ireland. Our campaign aims to raise a minimum of £3000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and the final total will be revealed in the next issue of PiF. Macmillan Fundraising Manager Joanne Young is delighted with the response from pharmacies. ‘We would like to send our sincere thanks to those pharmacies that went ‘Green’ for Macmillan Cancer Support in September,’ she said. ‘Pharmacies are the hub of our communities and know only too well about their customers, who have been diagnosed with cancer and who are going through the toughest time of their lives. Having the pharmacies’ support means that people living with cancer have access to Macmillan and all the services we provide in their area. We also appreciate you raising much needed funds so that we can continue to provide these necessary services.’
