The Department of Health has launched a public appointment competition to recruit three registrant Council Members to the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (PSNI).
The appointments offer pharmacists in Northern Ireland the opportunity to play an important role in shaping the future of pharmacy regulation and contributing to the delivery of safe and effective health and social care services.
The PSNI is the regulatory and professional body for pharmacists in Northern Ireland. It is responsible for maintaining the professional register, which currently includes more than 2,800 pharmacists, 140 pre registration trainees and over 550 pharmacy premises across the region.
Council Members play a key role in supporting the organisation’s work in protecting the public and upholding professional standards within the pharmacy sector.
Applicants applying as a Registered Member must be registered as a pharmaceutical chemist or druggist, or be eligible to register and commit to doing so if appointed.
Candidates must also demonstrate the following essential competencies during the application and interview process:
- Seeing the Big Picture
- Changing and Improving
- Working Collaboratively
The Department of Health says the positions present a valuable opportunity for pharmacists to contribute their experience and expertise to the governance and strategic direction of the profession in Northern Ireland.
The deadline for applications is 12 noon (GMT) on Thursday 26 March 2026. Late applications will not be accepted.
