2025 marks the beginning of a new chapter for family-owned business EMT based in Nottingham, as they launch a refreshed new brand design and website.
EMT is a recognized leader in the dispensing consumables industry, and the rebrand is more than an image refresh. Over the past 18 months, EMT has undergone a significant transformation, overhauling its systems and processes and building a new Senior Leadership Team to support ambitious growth plans over the next five years.
Rod Muir, Managing Director, talks about some of the challenges for the pharmacy sector and why companies like EMT must be future focused to support the pharmacy community, as they navigate challenges such as funding cuts, digitisation and increasing pressures to offer patient services.
“The new ERP system and website will significantly enhance the customer experience by making it easier, faster, and more reliable to do business with us. Customers will benefit from a seamless and intuitive platform that streamlines ordering, tracking, and communication, saving them time and effort.
An integrated system ensures smoother processes, faster service, and fewer errors, providing greater transparency and control with real-time access to information through self-service portals.
In a challenging economic environment, this efficiency not only enhances service quality but also helps us manage costs, enabling us to deliver consistent value and maintain competitive pricing for our customers.”

Challenges for pharmacies
The pharmacy sector is undergoing significant change driven by challenges in funding, evolving services, online competition, and automation. The Pharmacy First initiative, launched in January 2024, places greater emphasis on community pharmacy services and it is essential that all aspects of the sector, whether it is wholesalers, logistics or manufacturers, must be ahead of these initiatives to ensure pharmacies can deliver.
EMT has been at the forefront, supporting over 2500 independent pharmacies, multiples, and national chains in England with the Advanced Hypertension Case-Finding Service through its Innovative, cost-effective Hingmed ambulatory blood pressure monitor (ABPM).
Additionally, EMT is assisting pharmacies with cutting edge Medication Adherence packaging solutions for the adoption of hub-and-spoke models, including PillBook Ultra. This solution, compatible with BD Parata ULTRA and BD Parata XF, empowers pharmacies to transform operations, boost efficiency, and enhance patient care.
Automation and Efficiency
The future of pharmacy is embedded in embracing innovation, a key part of EMT’s growth strategy. The ERP and new website are just the beginning of the growth vision for the pharmacy wholesaler.
Customers will benefit from enhanced service levels, supported by investments in automation and AI to reduce errors and improve delivery times. The Senior Leadership Team are also as focused on cost management to offer competitive pricing and maintain affordability for pharmacies under pressure.
“All of this reflects our dedication to being a trusted and forward-thinking partner in their success”
